Doi Inthanon Summit is located in a Doi Inthanon National Park.
The name Doi Inthanon was given in honour of Inthawichayanon the last King of Chiang Mai who was concerned about the forests in the north and tried to preserve them. He ordered that after his death, his remains be interred at Doi Luang which was then renamed in his honour.
Twin Pagodas (their official names are Pra Mahatat Noppamethanedon and Pra Mahatat Nopphonphusiri) honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit and are surrounded by spectacular gardens.
